Britain is suffering the worst drought in 100 years – so
how can keen gardeners continue to water their plants and ensure
            an attractive summer display?

Green-fingered enthusiasts will find some of the answers at this
year’s Royal Show, taking place at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire
on 2-5 July 2006. Attractions will include a gardener’s question
and answer time as well as a clinic where visitors can pick up
invaluable advice on how to beat the drought from the experts.
The Flower Show, sponsored by private client fund manager, Tilney
Investment Management, will take pride of place at the heart of
the Royal’s shopping area. It will include a giant floral
marquee, a variety of entertainments and a host of attractions
              including a series of demonstrations.
“The flower show is close to our hearts” said marketing
manager Ian Beestin. “Many of our clients are keen gardeners
and we are pleased to sponsor events which are entertaining, beautiful
              and prestigious.”
Among the demonstrations will be Somerset-based Exclusive Garden
Design displaying its new blight-resistant topiary box and running
topiary clipping demonstrations. Also, for the first time at the
Royal Show, Leicestershire-based Wilford Bulb Company will showcase
              a rare oriental lily.
Other highlights include a range of golden Sciadopitys – an
attractive and rare variety of Japanese Umbrella Pine trees – and
the ever-popular Garden of Japan demonstrating how this low-maintenance
              design can look.
This year’s NAFAS floral arrangement competition, always
popular with flower arrangers all over the country, is themed ‘Floral
Spectrum’. Nine classes will offer a wide range of topics
including Red Hot and Spicy and The Deep Blue Sea.
“The Royal Show is the only event that celebrates the rural
way of life in its entirety. With such a variety of exhibitors
and activities in the Flower Show there will be plenty for gardeners,
flower arrangers and the general public to enjoy and learn from,” said
Dominique Gill Show managing director of Haymarket Land Events,
              the organiser of the show.
