Rideau Sheep were developed by Agriculture Canada at the Animal Research Centre (ARC) in Ottawa. When these breeds of sheep were released to the industry by the Canadian Sheep Breeders' Association in 1988 they all carried the suffix ARCOTT, short for Animal Research Centre Ottawa. Since 1988 these breeds are commonly known as Rideau, Outaouais and Canadian. |
