Barenbrug Grows Agricultural Grass Expertise with New Appointment
Barenbrug UK, a leading producer of agricultural grass and forage seed mixtures, has strengthened the expertise on its team with the appointment of a new regional sales manager who will work closely with merchants and farmers across the North of England.
Roger Bacon – who comes from a beef and arable farming family in Derbyshire – brings a wealth of experience to his new role at Barenbrug, having spent more than sixteen years in the agriculture industry.

Before joining Barenbrug, Roger worked as an agronomist for Agrovista – a UK-based supplier of agronomy advice and crop protection products. At Agrovista, Roger specialised in arable and forage crops, using data and trial results to dispense technical advice to farmers – skills that he will now transfer to his new role at Barenbrug, and his interactions with merchants and livestock farmers.

on his appointment, Roger said:
“I was attracted to the role at
Barenbrug for two reasons: the small, friendly but extremely hard-working
nature of the team; and the technical approach that the business
takes to breeding grass. Barenbrug is known for using science and
hard facts to come up with effective new grass seed mixtures. It
also has a reputation for passing its knowledge on to its customers
– making straightforward recommendations that enable farmers to
make good grass seed choices and ultimately improve the profitability
of their enterprise. As the son of a farmer, and an agronomist
with qualifications in crop production and protection, this was
a very appealing combination – and I look forward to working with
the team and supporting its merchants help develop their grass
seed sales.”

Outside of work there is no escape from the great outdoors for Roger, who enjoys walking, cycling, rugby and skiing.
