Champion Beltex Ewe to 3,200gns at Lanark

The champion Beltex, a two year old ewe from A Donald, West Linton, Peeblesshire, made the top price of the day at the Beltex Scotland In-Lamb Female sale at Lanark on Saturday 10 December.

The sale leader, Harestanes Norah, by Southolm had been running with Tiree Lyfebuoy, the 2008 Royal Highland Show reserve male breed champion, and was taken home by P Tippets and C Williams, Willodge Farm, Shropshire.

Next came a gimmer, Clary Party Girl from J L McMillan, Newton Stewart, Wigtownshire at 1,500gns. Party Girl, by Corstane Mighty Max, was taken home by C M Jennings, Crakehall, Cumbria.

A Broughton ewe lamb from M Dunlop, Biggar, Lanarkshire and sired by Clary Number One sold to a bid of 1,300gns from J McGarva, Cummertrees, Annan. The same breeder also sold the first prize gimmer Corstane ET Prime Pussy by Kingledores Look At Me for 1,000gns to H Emslie, Peterhead, Aberdeenshire.

Selling to 1,200gns was another ewe lamb, Woodies Rumble by Ryder Pavarotti from S Wood, Skene, Aberdeenshire. This nine month old was purchased by C Barnes, Northern Ireland.

Averages: 28 ewes £501.75, 38 gimmers £462.55, 11 ewe lambs £606.14
