This special cash prize, awarded by Harrison and Hetherington is presented annually, to the exhibitor of the overall supreme live cattle champion ONLY if the exhibitor purchased the animal during the current year from an H&H Mart.
This year’s winner Mistique is a Limousin Cross heifer (Sire Bronte Moor Andover, Dam a Limousin Cross) that was purchased at Carlisle’s Borderway Special Continental Sale in March 2011. Messrs Hyslop and Richardson purchased this heifer for £2700, from John Smith-Jackson of High Town, Haltwhistle.
The shows that qualify for this special prize are Borderway Agri Expo, The Royal Highland Winter Fair, The Welsh Winter Fair, and The English Winter Fair.
The aim of this prize, initiated a number of years ago by the H&H livestock team is to highlight and recognise the high quality show type animals that are presented at their markets throughout the year. The prize has not been won for the last two years, so, Operations Director David Pritchard, was understandably delighted to make this year’s presentation:
“It is a privilege to present this prize today on behalf of Harrison and Hetherington. Mistique is a fine example of the high quality livestock exhibited by our consigners throughout our markets and hopefully this recognition will encourage others to showcase their stock in future years.”
