The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart P.L.C. had forward 44 prime cattle, 11 young bulls, 37 over thirty month cattle, 6,219 prime lambs and 6,157 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown on Thursday 24th November, 2011.
A smaller show of prime cattle and a good show of well fleshed cattle saw a brisk trade throughout, topping at 214.5p (twice) for Charolais heifers from J.W. Vevers, High Stenries, purchased by J.A. Jewitt Ltd., Wholesalers and Border Meats, Butchers, Lockerbie.

Another excellent show of 6,219 prime lambs were forward to more new buyers resulting in a fabulous trade. The sale averaged 200p per kilo overall or 202.8p per kilo SQQ. A large number of 45kilo + lambs were forward and more export lambs could be sold to advantage.
Top per kilo of 239p for Beltex from Sorbie and to £108.50 per head for Suffolks from Hownam Grange and Texels from Kirkton.
