Cumberland Show Hosts Biggest Display of Cattle
2010-02-09

At the 2010 event in July the Cumberland Show will host two major national shows in addition to the normal display of top quality cattle.

On 17th July the Cumberland County Show will host the Scottish & Northern National Charolais Show, where around 100 animals are expected.

Alongside this will be the Galloway Cattle Society National Show, with around 60 animals expected. The Society is putting up a special show cattle marquee, together with the two cattle marquees it normally has to house a cattle entry of around 300. The Society expects this to be the single largest collection of show cattle across the north, and possible throughout the whole UK.

In addition to Charolais and Galloway cattle the Cumberland Show has a range of dairy breeds in their own marquee. Within the beef marquee the numbers are expected to remain high as the British Blue Cattle Society has again assigned the show incentive scheme to the Cumberland Show, and other sections such as Commercial Cattle are growing steadily.

The Cumberland Show moves to a new venue at Carlisle Racecourse for the 2010 event, and this offers much opportunity to develop all aspects of the show further. It has thriving sheep, goat and horse sections and offers a range of displays and demonstrations related to farming, produce and countryside skills.
