            The first spring show held by the Blackface Sheep Breeders Association
              was hailed as a great night as nearly 90 sheep were forward and
            120 people attended this new venture for the local Branch.

            The judge for the evening, Mr Ian Thomson, Caberston, Walkerburn,
              Peebles had the difficult job of placing the classes, which saw
              an amazing entry of 30 sheep forward in the tup hogg class. Lifting
              both the champion and reserve champion rosettes where local breeders,
              father and son team Graham and Colin McClymont, Cuil, Palnure,
              Newton Stewart. The champion came from the highly contested ewe
              class, this ewe from their Glanary flock was by the 34000gns Dalchirla
              tup. Lifiting the reserve placing was the aged tup, which was bought
              last year at Lanark for 11000gns from the Tinnis Flock and is by
              10,000gns Stewart Sheild sire.
