John Deere 8030 tractors delivered AutoTrac-ready

All new John Deere 8030 Series tractors are now being delivered AutoTrac-ready from the factory at no additional charge.

This means that the tractors have all the internal hardware required to operate the company’s automatic guidance system installed as standard equipment during the assembly process at the Waterloo tractor factory. Customers now simply need to add and activate a GreenStar Monitor and StarFire iTC GPS receiver.

“Any customer buying a model year 2007 8030 Series tractor can now ask their local dealer for a demonstration of the AutoTrac guidance system on their tractor. It has never been easier to step up to the distinct benefits that AutoTrac has to offer,” says Graham Thompson, divisional marketing manager for Waterloo Tractors.

“Easy operation of the guidance system, and productivity boosts for all field applications, have significantly increased the demand for AutoTrac,” says Georg Larscheid, European marketing manager for John Deere’s AMS division. “With the reduction of overlaps during tillage work for example, farmers and contractors are able to lower their operating costs by up to 10 per cent. During fertilising and slurry spreading, we are looking at possible savings of up to 15 per cent.”

AutoTrac increases the accuracy of any straight or curved line operation in the field. Depending on the required level of accuracy, the guidance system can be individually tailored to customer needs.

John Deere offers three different types of in-cab display and GPS signal activation. There is a choice of SF1 (+/-30cm), SF2 (+/-10cm) and RTK (+/-2cm) signals to match the full range of field applications: SF1 for tillage, spraying and slurry spreading; SF2 for harvesting, mowing, seeding and planting; and the repeatable RTK accuracy for planting and bedding.

The 8030 Series tractor range consists of six machines from 225 to 330hp (97/68EC rated), and has won several major awards since its introduction in 2005. These include a DLG Gold Medal, the FIMA Innovations Award and the 2007 Tractor of the Year Award.
