            On Friday 3rd November 2006, The Whitebred Shorthorn Association
            held their annual autumn sale of Whitebred Shorthorn Cattle at Borderway
            Mart, Carlisle, with a small select entry of 5 bulls and 1 female
            forward.
          
           
                
              Blackburn Bellringer - 2,500 guineas

             The judge, Gordon Gilligan, High Creoch, Gatehouse of Fleet, awarded
            the Championship to Blackburn Bellringer a March 2005 bull bred and
            exhibited by Gordon Jackson, Blackburn, Newcastleton. Sired by Blackburn
            Taurus, with bloodlines going back to the great Wolfhills Chieftain,
            this bull went on to secure a bid of 2,500gns and joins the Burnedge
            herd of Brian Hough, at Oldham.
          The Reserve Champion Rosette was collected by Barlaes Choir Boy
            , also a March 2005 bull bred and shown by Messrs R & M Fergusson,
            Barlaes, Dalry, Castle Douglas, Sired by Raeburnfoot Talisman, this
            bull failed to reach its reserve in the sale ring, but sold later
            to Mr T J Robinson, Ottercops, Kirkwhelpington, Newcastle. 
          Third prize bull Blackburn Rover from the same home as the champion
            realized 850gns, writing this cheque Mr J Perkin, Whiteholm Farm,
            Roweltown, Carlisle. 
          Raeburnfoot Snowflake, the only female in the sale, sold at 800gns
            to Mr Hunt, Maceybank, Southwaite, Carlisle.
